Released as an in-store play sampler to promo the release of Clapton's "Blues" 2 CD set, which collect rare Clapton Blues tracks, both live and studio. Tracks are "Before You Accuse Me" , "Cryin'", "Wonderful Tonight", "Mean Old World" (with Disc is housed in a slim cardboard slipcase and is still factory SEALED. Cover is 100% Mint.   • King Biscuit Boy With Crowbar-Official Music- LP- stereo-Paramount PAS 5030 - 1970 33 1/3 RPM LP release by King Biscuit Boy, AKA Canadian Bluesman (harp and vocals), Richard Newell. Newell got his start, as many did, with Ronnie Hawkins and his band the Hawks. After going solo, he joined forces with Crowbar, which was made up of ex-Hawks. LP at hand was his debut album, which was well received, charting in both the U.S. and Canada. The single "Corrina Corrina" was a minor hit in Canada as well. Music is a hard-driving mix of Blues standards ("Hoy Hoy Hoy," "Don't Go No Further") and originals ("Cookin' Little Baby," "Biscuit's Boogie"). Textured gatefold cover is Near Mint-no stains, tears, splits, or writing. Disc is clean, glossy, and Near Mint.

  • McCracklin, Jimmy-Think- LP- mono-Imperial LP 9297 - WLP,1965 release, features one of last blues songs to hit the pop charts ("Think"), classic McCracklin sound, impassioned gospel-derived vocal, call & response w/female vocal chorus, soulful brass and flashes of hot blues guitar from the great Lafayette Thomas! Good record throughout!! Front cover looks nice, bk cover and some edges show some wear, "Audition Copy" stamped on bk cover, some light marks and scuffs but looks good with very little wear apparent, plays like a champ!! - (EXC+/EXC+) - $20 - Order

  • Memphis Minnie and Son Joe-Please Set a Date/True Love- 78- mono-Columbia 36895 - 1940's Blues 78 by Memphis Minnie, and her husband, Son Joe. Minnie plays tough guitar and belts out 2 great Blues numbers. Label describes the record as "Blues Singer with Guitar and Drums". Disc has some visible groove wear and numerous light marks, as we as a few heavier scratches. However, it plays fine with moderate surface noise. Great vintage Blues 78, of the sort we almost never see!

  • Otis, Johnny-New Johnny Otis Show- LP- stereo-Alligator AL 4726 - 1981 release, this is the return of both Johnny and his son, the phenomenal guitarist Shuggie Otis, after several years of recording inactivity. Features former Professor Longhair drummer Earl Palmer, former Ray Charles bassist Edgar Willis, Wendell Perry of the Coasters, Delmar "Might Mouth" Evans, Plas Johnson, and several new Johnny Otis prodigies. 10 tracks, including "Why Don't You Do Right?," "Half Steppin' Woman," & "Every Beat of My Heart." Cover is very clean and Near Mint. Vinyl is glossy and also Near Mint. Scarce LP release!

Disc is clean, glossy, and Near Mint. Vinyl plays clean with only minor surface noise and clear sound.

  • Reed, Jimmy-T'Aint No Big Thing But He Is....Jimmy Reed- LP- mono-Vee Jay LP 1067 - 1963 first press 33 1/3 RPM LP release by Blues vocalist and songwriter, Jimmy Reed. Reed was one of the very last to actually chart Pop with Blues tracks-a testament to the timeless appeal of his lazy drawl. Tracks include "Mary-Mary", "Mixed Up", and the classic "Shame, Shame". Bottom left corner of cover shows a bit of creasing/wear, but overall the cover shows little wear and no stains, splits, writing, etc. Disc (heavy vinyl-black label with rainbow band) is super clean and glossy, grading Mint Minus! Handsome original Blues LP in top condition!

  • Smith, Mamie/Mamie Smith and Her Jazz Hounds-You've Got to See Mama Ev'ry Night (Or You Can't See Mamma At All)/I'm Gonna Get You- 78- mono-OKEH 4781 - 1923 78 RPM 10" disc by Mamie Smith, and her band, The Jazz Hounds. Smith is, of course, known as the first vocalist to record a "classic" Blues tune (more of a Jazz-based Blues in the style of Bessie Smith, etc.), and her 1920 recording of Perry Bradford's "Crazy Blues" swept her to fame. Disc at hand is a more obscure OKEH release from 3 years later. A side is a salty Billy Rose composition (memorably covered by Kay Starr). Labels are extremely clean. Disc rates a strong VG, with numerous light marks, but only a couple of medium-heavy ones. Plays nicely with moderate surface noise. Rare early Jazz release-offered for a low price.

  • Turner, Ike-Blues Roots- LP- stereo-United Artists UAS5576 - 1972 release pays tribute to Ike's blues roots of the 50's, his guitar sound is still suprisingly close to the Kings of Rhythm records! tunes include "The Things I Used To Do", "Lawdy Miss Clawdy", and "My Babe", cover is cleverly designed to resemble a steamer trunk, sealed LP has cut corner with neat circular cut, good record - (SS) - $15- Order

  • Various Artists-12 Original Artists Hits Volume 2- LP- Stereo-Souffle 502018 - 12 song collection (late 70's) of prime 50's blues and R&B from the vaults of Kent Records (Crown/RPM/Modern). From the Souffle label which had a few other nice Blues/R&B reissues at the time (we recall a Buster Brown LP, to name one). Artists include B.B. King, Richard Berry, Marvin & Johnny, Saunders King, Big Joe Turner, the Jacks & Jimmy Nelson ("T-99").   • Vaughan, Stevie Ray-BBC Classic Tracks- CD- stereo-Westwood One #99-39 - Promo-only DJ CD from the BBC Westwood One Radio Show, originally aired the week of Sept. 20, 1999. Westwood One recordings feature both BBC in-studio recordings, and live recordings from concerts around the world, stored in the BBC vaults. This show is about 40 minutes in length and includes an aural history of Stevie's life and music as well as 5 tracks, some of which are rare live recordings! Hosted by Kat MacEwan. Includes original cue sheet, which dates the live material as circa 1985. Tracks include "Soul to Soul", "Pride and Joy", "Voodoo Child", "Mary Had a Little Lamb" and "Cold Shot". Disc is Near Mint. To our knowledge, this material is completely unavailable commercially!

  • Wet Willie-II- LP- stereo-Capricorn CP 0109 - 1972 33 1/3 RPM LP release by Southern Rock group, Wet Willie, led by vocalist/harmonica player Jimmy Hall. Group turns in a bluesy and soulful selection of tunes, including some great covers ("Shout Bamalama," "It Hurts Me Too") and originals ("Red Hot Chicken," and "Shotgun Man"). Copy at hand is an original Capricorn DJ/promo LP, complete with wraparound promo insert. Cover shows slight wear and 2" seam split at bottom center. Disc (white label promo) is clean, glossy, and MINT.

  • White, Josh-Sings The Blues Volume 1- LP- mono-Stinson SLP14 - Beautiful clear red vinyl! Mid 50's release, reissues 1940's material originally on 78's, mostly blues album, ("Mean Mistreating Woman", "Baby Baby", "No. 12 Train"), but folk and protest songs ("Cotton Eyed Joe", "Strange Fruit") and even standards ("Miss Otis Regrets"), it's just Josh and his acoustic gtr., good stuff! Cover is 90% still shrink wrapped, and most immaculate, bottom right corner protrudes, however, and is a little worn with a 1/2" seam split, vinyl is glossy, and reveals no marks, slight surface noise is from the transfer from 78's, not the condition of the LP. Excellent copy! - (Nm-/NM) - $30- Order

  • White, Josh-Sings the Blues Volume 2- LP- Mono-Stinson SLP15 - beautiful clear red vinyl! mid 50's release, reissues 1940's material originally on 78's, largely a straight (and excellent) blues album: "St. james Infirmary", "Evil Hearted Man", "Outskirts of Town" with a few folk and Gospel songs thrown in: "One Meat Ball", a hit of sorts for Josh, and "Joshua Fit the Battle", just Josh and his guitar here, cover is very clean, slight dent at top right and 2" seam split at bottom right, vinyl is bright and glossy, a few light marks here and there, plays with light surface noise only, good copy! - (NM-/NM-) - $25- Order

  • Witherspoon, Jimmy-Hunh!- LP- stereo-Bluesway BLS6040 - 1969 release, N/A on Cd, all star lineup includes Charles Brown (piano), Red Holloway (sax) and Earl Hooker and Mel Brown on guitars (Earl is in right channel and Mel is in left), interesting record which combines Jimmy's usual urbane style with a Chicago blues sound! punch hole and extremely faint signs of wear on cover, disc is quite clean, nice record! - (NM-/NM) - $18- Order
