- Lee, Julia-"Party Time"- LP- mono-Capitol T 228 - 1955 33 1/3 RPM LP release by pianist, and Jazz/Blues vocalist, Julia Lee. Album was originally issued as a ten inch record in 1950, but was so popular that it was reissued as a 12 inch with extra tracks in '55. Lee has a serious Jazz pedigree as the sister of Kansas City bandleader, George E. Lee, and she is an accomplished Blues & Jazz pianist. She is accompanied here by many Jazz greats, including Red Norvo, Benny Carter, Baby Lovett & Ernie Royal. Music on the LP is Jazzy Blues-but with highly risque lyrics that indeed made this record a (adult)party favorite for many years. Julia mines the sexy double-entendres like nobody's business on every song! Tracks: King Size Papa, Snatch It and Grab It, You Ain't Got It No More, Tell Me Daddy, Tonight's the Night, I Didn't Like It the First Time, Ain't It a Crime, Don't Save It Too Long, I Was Wrong, Last Call (For Alcohol), After Hours Waltz, My Man Stands Out. Front cover slick looks great. However, top and bottom seams have been extensively repaired from the inside. Back cover is clean with little wear. Disc (2nd press black label with "rainbow" colorband) is clean & glossy showing a number of light marks (mostly spindle), but no scratches of any signifigance. Plays nicely with light surface noise and bright sound.
