Peter Schickele (best known the the world as the comedic P.D.Q. Bach) conducts the backing, which uses recorders, violas, lute, harpsichord, organ, winds, strings and percussion. Owens/Buck Owens and his Buckaroos-Christmas With Buck Owens and his Buckaroos- LP- stereo-Capitol ST 2396 - 1965 33 1/3 RPM 1st press LP release by Buck Owens. Unlike other Christmas albums, in which the artist often forsakes his usual style for Xmas schmaltz, Buck pulls off a double feat here by turning in an LP which not only sounds great in the classic Owens style, but features (almost all) original tunes with Xmas themes! Tracks include "Because It's Christmas Time," "Blue Christmas Tree," and the all-time classic (and Pop and Country chart hit) "Santa Looked a Lot Like Daddy." Cover is extremely clean with only minor wear-1" piece of tape at top center edge-no stains, tears, splits, or writing. Disc (housed in original Capitol inner sleeve) is pressed on heavy vinyl with black "rainbow" color band label. Vinyl is clean, glossy, and Near Mint. Vinyl plays beautifully with almost no surface noise and rich, clear sound.

Rogers, Roy & Dale Evans-Christmas Is Always- LP- stereo-Capitol ST 2818 - (Approx) 1967 release by Roy Rogers (ex-Sons of the Pioneers, TV and movie star, singing cowboy, "King of the Cowboys") made with wife and costar, Dale Evans. Xmas album-tracks include: "I'll Be Home For Xmas," "Jingle Bells/Sleigh Ride (medley)," and "Let There Be Peace On Earth." Cover has slightly messy punch hole at top left, but is extremely clean with no creasing, stains, tears, writing, etc. Disc (black "rainbow" label with colorband) is clean, glossy and MINT.
Smith, Jimmy-Christmas '64- LP- stereo-Verve V6 8604 - 1964 33 1/3 RPM first press Verve LP release by Jazz organist extraordinaire, Jimmy Smith. This is a 'Christmas' album to be sure, but it is also a great straight-ahead Jazz record in the classic Jimmy Smith style! 2 tracks ("Santa Claus" & "Jingle Bells") are recorded as a trio with Quentin Warren & Billy Hart. Remainder are in a great Big Band setting with great players like Joe Wilder, Kenny Burrell, and Grady Tate. Track listing: God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen (Big Band), Jingle Bells, We Three Kings, The Christmas Song, White Christmas, Santa Claus Is Coming to Town, Silent Night, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen (trio). Cover is clean with only slight wear and minor creasing to top right corner. Disc (black label/silver print, "MGM Records-A Division Of" at bottom center) is clean, glossy and Near Mint. Plays very nicely with only minor surface noise and clear sound.

This was the Supremes Christmas album, issued at the peak of their popularity, each tune featuring the classic Motown sound. Tracks include "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer", "The Little Drummer Boy", and "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town". Cover is extremely clean with no creasing, splits, stains, tears, writing, etc. Disc (purple label with "map" on top half-in crisp original Motown inner sleeve) is clean, glossy and Near Mint. Various: Jean-Paul Kreder Choir/Les Petits Chantears A La Croix Des Boix-Christmas Music of France (Noels Populaires)- LP- stereo-Capitol/EMI SM 10484 - Late 1960's 33 1/3 RPM reissue of an early 60's Christmas LP, released by Capitol as part of their "International Series," a series which featured material recorded by sister label EMI in France and other European countries. We do occasionally see these original LP's, but generally in poor condition. Copy at hand is still sealed in original factory shrinkwrap, unopened, unplayed & Mint. Side A is by the Jean-Paul Kreder Choir, tracks include "Bouquet De Noel No. 3: La Nuit," "Mon Beau Sapin" & "Petit Papa Noel." B side features Les Petit Chanteurs A La Croix De Bois (Child Singers of the Cross). Tracks include "Noels: Musette," "Noels No. 4: Praetorius" & "Un Flambeau Jeanette, Isabelle (Noel Provencel)." Out of print for many years.

Cover shows light ringwear and edgewear. Small punch hole through bottom left corner, some creasing to top left corner. Disc (super heavy vinyl-about 165 grams!) has 'deep groove' with yellow and black Tamla label with logo at top center. Vinyl has good gloss. Grooves show light wear, some scuffing and one or two light scratches. Plays nicely with moderate surface noise. his album was widely distributed as a reissue with a cheesy no-photo cover. The original version is quite scarce.
