  • Sumac, Yma-Voice of the Xtabay- 10- mono-Capitol H 244 - 1952 33 1/3 RPM 10" LP release by vocalist, Yma Sumac. Sumac was a mysterious figure, claiming to be an Incan princess. Possessed of an amazing multi-octave voice, her music partakes of Latin, Pop, and Exotica. LP at hand-her very first U.S. release, features music and lyrics by Moises Vivanco, and was conducted and arranged with additional music by Lounge/Exotica composer Les Baxter. Tracks include "Wayra" (Dance of the Winds), "Choladas" (Dance of the Moon Festival), and "Tumpa" (Earthquake). Copy at hand is a rare original 1952 1st press (no border on the cover) in excellent condition. Cover is super clean-no stains, tears, splits, or writing. Disc (heavy vinyl-blue label with silver print) is clean, glossy, and visually Near Mint. Plays nicely with light to moderate surface noise and clear sound.

  • Sumac, Yma (1952 1st press 10" LP)-Legend of the Sun Virgin- LP- mono-Capitol L 299 - 1952 33 1/3 RPM ten inch LP by the unique vocalist, Yma Sumac. Sumac claimed descent from the ancient Inca kings. While some dispute this, few dispute her talent or her multi-octave vocal range! This album, her second, finds her accompanied by Moises Vivanco, the South American composer, who also wrote the music. Tracks include "Kuyaway", "Suray Surita" and "Karibe Taki". Cover is extremely clean with no stains, tears, splits, writing, etc. Disc (rare early red label with silver print) is clean, glossy and Near Mint. This item (usually seen either wrecked or in the more common 12 inch version) lists for up to $100 to $120, depending on which guide you consult. • Sylvester Music Company-Go...The Paris Modern Sound- LP- Mono-Sylvester Music Co SMC/LP507 - Early 1960's 33 1/3 RPM 10" UK LP, from the Sylvester Music Company of England. Sylvester Company was (still existing?) a music library, similar to DeWolfe, which supplied original instrumental music for various film, radio and television projects. This volume is a rather hip one, with varied styles, including spaghetti western, jazz, and jazzy Pop which would now be called Lounge-Core. Cover has a name in pen on back cover. Glossy cover is otherwise clean. Disc is clean with only very minor marks. Very rare in the US!

  • Three Suns-A Swingin' Thing- LP- stereo-RCA LSP 2963 - 1964 33 1/3 RPM LP release by The Three Suns. Group was a huge success from the late 1940's to the early 1960's, due to their unique and adventurous instrumental blend of organ, guitar, and accordion, with ace production by Roy Glover. Group was composed of brothers Al and Morty Nevins, with cousin Artie Dunn. Sound of the group varies from inventive Easy Listening to some really great Lounge/Space Age Pop at times. Album at hand has a nice selection of standards, including "Mean to Me", "A Taste of Honey" and "Lazy River". Album is still factory SEALED-100% new and unused-in the original shrinkwrap. Shrink has parted a bit along the right edge, but disc has clearly never been removed. Cover is near-perfect with some tiny wear to the exposed bottom right corner. Not available on CD. From the collection of a former RCA Records representative.
