Guthrie has 4 songs on the LP: "Traveling Music," "Trip to the City," and the 2-part "Alice's Restaurant Massacree." (We have been unable to determine if the "Massacree" featured on this album is the same as the one Arlo recorded for Warner Bros. Aurally, we were unable to tell. However, we were unable to see any credit to Warner Bros. for use of the song so this version may possibly be a different version recorded for United Artists.) Also features 1 track each by Tigger Outlaw and Al Shackman, plus 3 instrumentals by Garry Sherman. Cover is super-clean in original shrinkwrap-slight wear to exposed right edge. Copy at hand is an original RCA Living Stereo LP, offering excellent audiophile-quality sound. This LP, apart from being an excellent Belafonte album with an emphasis on American Folk music (as opposed to the Calypso he often did), has the added distinction of having Bob Dylan on harmonica. - Highwaymen-self-titled- LP- mono-United Artists UAL 3125 - 1961 33 1/3 RPM LP release by The Highwaymen. Group was formed out of Wesleyan Univ. in Connecticut. Members for this album were Steve Butts, Chan Daniels, Bobby Burnett, Steve Trott, and Dave Fisher. The group compares favorably to Kingston Trio, Chad Mitchell Trio, etc. The Highwaymen actually had a number one Pop hit with the traditional tune "Michael" on this album (which came as a big surprise as they were trying to promote another tune named "Santiago"). Other tracks on this LP include "Big Rock Candy Mountain", "Cindy O Cindy", and "Sinner Man". Copy at hand is an original 1961 UA 1st pressing. Cover is Near Mint with only very minor wear and no splits, stains, tears or writing. Disc (housed in original UA inner sleeve) is clean, glossy and Near Mint. On this record Waylon straddles the line between folk and country, no doubt trying to get a piece of the tail end of the folk boom. Tunes include "Stop the World (and Let Me Off)", "I'm a Man of Constant Sorrow", and the country hit "That's the Chance I 'll Have to Take". Produced by Chet Atkins. Cover is clean with slight ringwear & a small shiny patch in top right corner where it seems that eraser was used to remove initials-not very noticable. - Kweskin, Jim/Jim Kweskin & the Jug Band-Jug Band Music- LP- stereo-Vanguard VSD 79163 - 1965 33 1/3 RPM LP release by Jim Kweskin and the Jug Band. This was Kweskin's seminal record, as he would forever be identified with the Jug Band style hereafter. LP also features his greatest lineup: Geoff Muldaur, Maria D'Amato (soon to be Maria Muldaur), Bill Keith (member of Bluegrass band, Muleskinner), Fritz Richmond, & Bruno Wolfe.
