West, Harry and Jeanie-Smokey Mountain Ballads- LP- Mono-Esoteric ES545 - approx. 1956 release on the very desirable New York jazz label counterpoint (Esoteric subsidiary)! Harry and Jeannie are genuine southerners, from Virginia and North Carolina, respectively, they were very traditional folksingers active in the late 50's to early 60's, they accompany themselves on banjo, guitars and mandolin (duel vocals), with assistance from Artie Rose on steel gtr., a very plaintive and authentic assortment of "Mountain music", tunes include "Rambling Boy", "Watermelon On the Vine", and "Where the Soul Never Dies", glossy front cover is nice, slight H2O stain on back cover, disc is visually mint, however it does have a slight edge warp (plays fine!), plays with a minor surface noise, rare piece! - (EXC+/EXC) - $10- Order
White, Josh-Sings The Blues Volume 1- LP- mono-Stinson SLP14 - Beautiful clear red vinyl! Mid 50's release, reissues 1940's material originally on 78's, mostly blues album, ("Mean Mistreating Woman", "Baby Baby", "No. 12 Train"), but folk and protest songs ("Cotton Eyed Joe", "Strange Fruit") and even standards ("Miss Otis Regrets"), it's just Josh and his acoustic gtr., good stuff! Cover is 90% still shrink wrapped, and most immaculate, bottom right corner protrudes, however, and is a little worn with a 1/2" seam split, vinyl is glossy, and reveals no marks, slight surface noise is from the transfer from 78's, not the condition of the LP. title piece for a National Geographic special and his narration and songs
highlight the Chesapeake Bay Foundation video "Living on the Edge." Wisner's music is uniquely devoted to highlighting the beauty of the Chesapeake Bay area. Young, Neil-Greatest Hits (New Zealand import)- LP- stereo-Reprise (NZ) 252711 - 1985 33 1/3 rpm vinyl LP release by Neil Young. LP at hand was only released in New Zealand. Neal has never authorized a greatest hits release in the USA, although another import "Greatest Hits was released in 2004 with entirely different contents. LP offers 12 well-chosen classics. Track listing: Cinnamon Girl, Old Man, Comes a Time, Walk On, The Loner, Like a Hurricane, Heart Of Gold, Southern Man, Down By the River, Southern Pacific, Hey Hey My My. Cover is extremely clean with very minor creasing around the edges. Disc is clean, glossy and Mint. Disc plays Mint with clear sound and a virtually silent surface.
