  • Angeles Negros/Los Angeles Negros-Serenata Sin Luna/Te Quiero Por Lo Que Eres- 45- stereo-International/Fania 8050 - 1977 45 RPM seven inch release by Los Angeles Negros (The Black Angels ). Formed by Germaín de la Fuente, Mario Gutiérrez, Cristian Blasser, Federico Blasser, and Sergio Rojas in 1968. During the 1970s, their romantic ballads "Y Volveré," "Pasión y Vida," and "Mi Niña" became chart-toppers all over Latin America. Los Angeles Negros settled in Mexico in 1982. The band (using a different singer) is known today as Germaín y sus Angeles Negros. Group has an extremely interesting sound which makes use of early synthesizers and organ, & has been called "Latin Psych" by some. A side of this disc, "Serenata" is a classic by this group. Disc was released on the International subsidiary of the great Latin label, Fania Records.   • Balaguer, Lope-Espectacular- LP- stereo-Fania SLP 00518 - 1977 33 1/3 LP release by Lope Balaguer. Balaguer is a Dominican Republic vocalist, still performing today, best-known as a bolerista, with roots in Merengue. Balaguer's first big hit came with his rendition of the Papa Molina song, "Nunca Te Lo He Dicho". Track listing: "Quisiera Contigo," "Ausencia," "Una Mujer," "Algo Se Va," "Cuando Llueve," "Brindo Por Ti," "Amnesia," "El Amor Es u\Uno," "Ojala," "No Tengo cCorazon." LP was released on the great Latin label, Fania Records. Copy at hand is an original Fania LP-NOT a repro-from old store stock, and is STILL SEALED in it's original shrinkwrap.   • Barbara and Dick-Oh! El Amor- LP- stereo-International/Fania INT 921 - 1977 33 1/3 RPM LP release by Argentinian duo, Barbara and Dick ("Barbara Y Dick"). Duo were Latin Pop stars in the late 1960's, and early 1970's, and may have enjoyed some success with this LP as well (online details about the duo are scarce). As the LP is sealed, we are unable to listen to it. However, one website describes the overall style as Balada/Romantic/Bolero. Track list: Respirando, Por un Adios, Buscando un recuerdo, Oh! El amor, Hay musica en la vida, Luce el Sol sobre nuestro pais, Yo pescador del amor, Yo vendo unos ojos negros, Por regalarte tu alegria asi, Adios se va.   • Big Kimbos/Los Kimbos-Big Kimbos with Adalberto Santiago- Cotique/Fania JMCS 1091- stereo-LP - 1977 33 1/3 Salsa LP release by Big Kimbos. Band was a gutsy New York/Puerto Rican Salsa band, formed by Tipica '73 (an offshoot of the Ray Barretto band) tres player, Nelson Gonzalez. (For the band's first LP, name was LOS Kimbos-this LP, their second, has it as BIG Kimbos.) Other personnel included Joe Manozzi, Roberto Rodriguez, and vocalist, Adalberto Santiago. Track list: 1. Probando, 2. El Mismo, 3. Si Dios Me Ayudara, 4. El Merengon, 5. Yo Se Que Un Dia, 6. Lagrimas Negras, 7. Persistire, 8. Juan Manuel. LP was released on the great Latin label Cotique, a subdivision of Fania. Copy at hand is an original Cotique/Fania LP-NOT a repro-from old store stock, and is STILL SEALED in it's original shrinkwrap. Cover is immaculate inside shrink.   • Blades, Ruben/Willie Colon Presents Ruben Blades-Segun El Color/Pablo Pueblo- 45- stereo-Fania 781 - 1977 45 RPM seven inch release by Panamanian-born Salsa vocalist, Ruben Blades. Blades, who had worked previously with Ray Barretto, joined the Willie Colon band in 1975. These are some of Blades' first solo recordings, with Colon's great band in support. Both songs are from the excellent Fania LP "Metiendo Mano". Disc was released on the great Latin label, Fania Records. Copy at hand is an original Fania 45-NOT a repro-from old store stock, and is MINT and unplayed.

  • Castor, Jimmy-Hey Leroy- LP- mono-Smash MGS 27091 - 1967 Soul/Funk LP with a Latin touch by The Jimmy Castor Bunch. The following is quoted from the AllMusic website: "Long before Jimmy Castor became a successful humorist and funkmeister, he scored a Latin hit with "Hey Leroy, Your Mama's Callin' You," a smoothly performed bit of samba with jazz touches by Castor. It was such a hit that he issued an entire album of similar tunes, none of which did anywhere near as well as the single, which cracked the R&B Top 20 (number 16) and pop Top 40 (number 31). "

    Copy at hand is really clean. Cover (small punch hole at top right has one minor scrape to the front slick at bottom right. It is otherwise immaculate-no stains, tears, writing, etc. Disc is clean, glossy and Near Mint. Beautiful copy of a scarce 1960's Soul LP.

This disc has Cruz paired with Johnny Pacheco (she had many collaborations with him). Both songs (B side is a bit of a classic!) are from the VAYA LP "Eternos", which is currently out of print on CD.
