  • Balaguer, Lope-Espectacular- LP- stereo-Fania SLP 00518 - 1977 33 1/3 LP release by Lope Balaguer. Balaguer is a Dominican Republic vocalist, still performing today, best-known as a bolerista, with roots in Merengue. Balaguer's first big hit came with his rendition of the Papa Molina song, "Nunca Te Lo He Dicho". Track listing: "Quisiera Contigo," "Ausencia," "Una Mujer," "Algo Se Va," "Cuando Llueve," "Brindo Por Ti," "Amnesia," "El Amor Es u\Uno," "Ojala," "No Tengo cCorazon." LP was released on the great Latin label, Fania Records. Copy at hand is an original Fania LP-NOT a repro-from old store stock, and is STILL SEALED in it's original shrinkwrap.   • Big Kimbos/Los Kimbos-Big Kimbos with Adalberto Santiago- Cotique/Fania JMCS 1091- stereo-LP - 1977 33 1/3 Salsa LP release by Big Kimbos. Band was a gutsy New York/Puerto Rican Salsa band, formed by Tipica '73 (an offshoot of the Ray Barretto band) tres player, Nelson Gonzalez. (For the band's first LP, name was LOS Kimbos-this LP, their second, has it as BIG Kimbos.) Other personnel included Joe Manozzi, Roberto Rodriguez, and vocalist, Adalberto Santiago. Track list: 1. Probando, 2. El Mismo, 3. Si Dios Me Ayudara, 4. El Merengon, 5. Yo Se Que Un Dia, 6. Lagrimas Negras, 7. Persistire, 8. Juan Manuel. LP was released on the great Latin label Cotique, a subdivision of Fania.   • El Cieguito De Nagua-"El Cieguito De Nagua"- LP- stereo-Karen KLP 34 - 1978 33 1/3 LP release by El Cieguito De Nagua. Artist is a blind Dominican Republic accordion player from the village of Nagua who is little-known outside of the DR. El Cieguito's musical style is called Merengue Tipico-better known in the Dominican Republic as Perico Ripiao. Perico Ripiao is the old school version of Merengue, using usually just an accordion, a metal guira, and the dominican drum called a tambora. Track listing: "Sabor a Cana", "Los Bodegueros", "Olviday Tumba", "Que Lindam Ama", "La Propesia", "Ay Si Si", "Ah Viene Nagua", "Viene La Navidad", "Dame Me Pato Gabino", "Mujer Allantosa".   • Hancock, Herbie and Foday Musa Suso-Village Life- LP- Stereo-Columbia FC 39870 - 1985 33 1/3 RPM LP release by American Jazz keyboardist Herbie Hancock and West African (Gambian native) Kora master Foday Musa Suso. The album, produced by world music impressario Bill Laswell, features only Hancock playing an array of electronic keyboards, sythesizers and a digital drum machine and Sousa playing kora and talking drum. The result is modern African fusion with Hancock showing great restraint to fit the style. Tracks include "Kanatente" and "Early Warning." Cover is Near Mint. Disc is clean, glossy & Near Mint.   • Laulu-Miehet Male Choir-Finnish Folk Songs- LP- Stereo-Capitol ST 10315 - Early 1960s, 33 1/3 RPM LP released as part of Capitol Records' excellent "Capitol of the World" International series. This album was recorded in Helsinki and features an 85 man acappella group. They perform a program of well-loved Finnish songs by Jean Sibelius, Armas Jarnefelt, Emil Genetz, Sulho Ranta, Selim Palmgren & others. Tracks include "Finlandia Hymni", "Tuutulaulu" & "Kesailta." Cover is very clean and uncreased overall but top right corner shows some wear and a small tear. Disc (black "rainbow" label with colorband) is clean, glossy & Near Mint. Hard-to-find & authentic International record!

  • Olatunji, Babatunde-Zungo!- LP- mono-Columbia CL 1634 - 1961 33 1/3 RPM LP release by Nigerian drummer and vocalist, Babatunde Olatunji. For this album (his 1st US LP), a large cast of musicians was assembled, including 13 vocalists, a 7-piece Jazz combo (Yusef Lateef, Clark Terry, Jimmy Nottingham, etc), and six percussionists (Montigo Joe, Ray Barretto, etc). Tracks include: 1) "Masque Dance" 2) "Zungo" 3) "Philistine." Sound of LP is a mix of pure Nigerian highlife, Afro-Cuban, and Jazz-flavored pieces, all topped by Olatunji's magnificent drumming. Cover (promo stamp in ink on back cover) is clean with slight ringwear. We have neatly repaired two seam splits at the top and bottom right. Disc (heavy vinyl-red "6-eye" label characteristic of a 1st pressing-both sides are promo stamped) is clean and glossy, with a little minor scuffing-grades NM. Plays nicely with minor surface noise and rich sound.

  • Orquesta Tipica Nacional-Paginas Do Oro De, Vol. 3- LP- stereo-TH/Top Hits (Argentina) THS 1203 - 33 1/3 RPM LP release by Orquesta Tipica Nacional of Argentina, under the direction of Juan Durand. Unfortunately, we have been unable to unearth any information about this group. Our best guess is that this is a late 1960's or early 1970's release. Tracks (including "Favorita", "Jarro Mocho", and "Castro En Margarita") are labeled by style. Styles include vals, chorote, polo, merengue, joropo, & contradanza. Group appears to have been a traditonal South American string orchestra which played for formal dances and concerts. Cover is still sealed in original shrinkwrap (slight corner creasing). Disc within is, of course, Mint and unplayed.

  • Piaf, Edith and Sarapo-At the Bobino- LP- Stereo-Capitol ST 10348 - 1963 release, recorded in France live in Paris at the Bobino. Side 1 is devoted to Edith, Side 2 to her young husband, Greek singer Sarapo (who towers above her on the cover!) Last cut on Side 2 is a duet. Well-recorded on Capitol International series.   • Pina, Basilio-La Nueva Voz de Mexico- LP- Mono-Columbia EX 5046 - Early 60s release, 33 1/3 RPM LP by Mexican vocalist and bolerista Basilio Pina. Tracks include "Borrasca," "Odiame Mas" and "Mi Unico Pecado." Cover is clean and Near Mint. Vinyl (six eye label black and red) shows clean A side; B side has two light marks, which do not affect play. Recorded in Mexico. - (NM/EXC) - $7.99- Order

  • Raphael-Eternamente Tuyo- LP- stereo-CBS Discos International (US) HIL-80379 - 1984 33 1/3 RPM LP release by Spanish Pop star, Raphael Martos. Raphael's career dates from the early 60's as a singer & actor (compared by Billboard magazine to Elvis Presley and Tom Jones. He is known for his hyper-dramatic, emotional singing style. LP at hand is by CBS Discos International, of Miami, Florida. Track listing: Y fuimos dos Solo te tengo a ti Frente al espejo Cuando te sueño Qué me importa Y ¿cómo es él? Sound is a weird marriage of Bossa Nova (w/trumpet, guitar, bass & drums) & rock/funk, with mostly Italian lyrics.   • Texidor, Luigi-El Caballero- LP- stereo-Nuestra/Fania LP 107 - 1980 33 1/3 RPM LP release by Luigi Texidor. The Puerto Rican-born Texidor is one of the great Salsa vocalists of the 70's & 80's, having worked with Bobby Valentin, and the Fania Allstars among others, before going on to a solo career. LP was produced by Papo Lucca, with arrangements by Luis Cruz, Tito Valentin, and Ray Santos, Jose Madera, Luis Quevado. Track list: 1. Pitirre Pa' Guaraguao, 2. Decencia, 3. El Ataque Me Da, 4.   • Valdes, Vicentico-Vicentico- LP- stereo-TICO CLP 1307 - 1972 33 1/3 LP by Vicentico Valdes (brother of Alfredito & Oscar)-one of Cuba's greatest singers, with a long career beginning in the 1940's. Valdes is known mainly as a bolerista, & was associated with many of the greatest Cuban bandleaders, such as Nono Morales, Tito Puente, Eddie Palmieri, etc. Complete track listing: Yo Lo Hare, Sin Ti, Llegaste Tarde, De Mis Recuerdos, Nuestros Ojos, La Noche Te Llama, Yotambien Canto A Borinquen, Hechos...No Palabras, La Calle, Llora; Llora. Back cover shows wear/slight staining-small piece of slick missing at bottom left. No splits or writing. Disc (heavy vinyl-red and white label with black print) shows only minor light marks, grading EXC+. Disc plays a bit noisier than visuals would indicate, however, with moderate surface noise. N/A on CD.
