Eps is backed by Alvin Stoller/bongos and Frank Flynn/vibraphone, among others. Eps plays a unique 7 string guitar on the record. Mood of the LP, as title suggests, is mellow. Tracks include "I'll Remember April", "Yesterdays", and "I Never Knew". Front cover is extremely clean, back cover shows old water stain at top. All-star live show, organized by Norman Granz, featuring Howard McGhee, Illinois Jacquet, Flip Philips, Hank Jones, Jo Jones (2 of the famous Jones Brothers!), Bill Harris, Ray Brown. Set documents a killer 6-part version of "Perdido". Great cover photo of Charlie Parker, who is actually not featured on this particular set. Cover art by Merle Shore. Interior cover has nice photographs and commentary. Cover spine is 100% intact, and cover is in great condition with just a bit of wear to bottom right corner. Classic Jazz concert recordings featuring Les Paul, Illinois Jacquet , JJ Johnson, Jack McVea, Shorty Nadine, Johnny Miller, Lee Young. This set offers a 6-part opus of the song, "Body & Soul". Album cover has surrealistic photo of a "flying" Illinois Jacquet playing to a blacony audience! Cover shows some edgewear and slight soil. Discs 1 & 3 are well-cared for with only minor wear. - Various Artists-Bethlehem's Best- LP- Mono-Bethlehem EXLP 6 - Red Label, 3 LP set! 1958 release. Glossy triple gatefold cover, very nice, with extensive notes, photos, session dates & personnel inside! 36 tracks. Covers virtually the entire roster of Bethlehem artists from Chris Connor to Howard McGhee, Bobby troup, Oscar Pettiford, Urbie green, Johnny Hartman & many more, both well known and obscure. Nice collection. We've seen this set once or twice before, but always in terrible condition! This is a nice copy- cover is clean, middle of spine had split but has been repaired from inside fairly well. Name in pen on inside. Discs are rather nice- grooves are still glossy, with light marks only. Disc one is the best, 2 & 3 are quite reasonable. Rare piece! - (EXC/NM/VG+/EXC) - $25- Order

- Vaughan, Sarah-Legendary Singers- LP- stereo-Time-Life SLGD 09 - Handsome 2 LP 33 1/3 RPM box set, put out by Time-Life, featuring vocalist Sarah Vaughan. Set is part of the "Legendary Singers" series, and includes handsome booklet with biographical info, photos, and track listing with personnel. Series basically presents an excellent career retrospective for the artist, with material drawn from all stages of their career, using material from different record labels. 22 tracks, including: "Lover Man", "Comes Love", "Lullaby of Birdland", "You're Not the Kind" and "You Hit the Spot". All tracks taken from the original masters, with top sound quality. Silver hardcover box is still in original shrinkwrap. Discs within are, of course, Mint and unplayed.

- Vaughan, Sarah-Sings George Gershwin- LP- mono-Merc MGP 2-101 - 1957 2 disc 33 1/3 RPM LP set by Sarah Vaughan, in a program of Gershwin tunes. Vaughan is accompanied by Hal Mooney and His Orchestra. Tracks (ranging from well known to little-heard) include "Isn't It a Pity", "The Man I Love", "Lorelei", and "Love Walked In". (Back cover lists the shows each tune was originally featured in.) Glossy gatefold cover is clean with only slight wear (small worn spot at bottom center)-no stains, writing, etc. First disc is Near Mint. Second disc is also clean and glossy, but has one heavy spindle mark (does not affect play signifigantly) which brings grade down to Excellent Plus. Rare original Vaughan LP set! - Washington, Dinah-Dinah Washington in the Land of Hi-Fi- LP- Mono-Emarcy MG-36073 - 1956 release, 33 1/3 LP by vocalist Dinah Washington backed by Hal Mooney and his orchestra. Mooney's arrangements make for more of a Pop LP than a Jazz release, but Mooney does not drown Washington in a sea of strings by any means. The arrangements vary from Swing to Latin with Jazz pianist Junior Mance stepping up out of the mix in a few places. Tracks include "There'll Be a Jubilee", "Let's Do It" & "If I Were a Bell." Cover (with handsome laminated photo on front) is remarkably well-preserved showing only the tiniest amount of wear at the bottom right corner. Disc (blue & silver Emarcy label with drummer logo) is clean, glossy and Near Mint. As we recently noticed that vinyl has mild warp (does NOT affect play), we have drastically reduced the price of this item. Plays clean with little or no surface noise. - Wess, Frank-Southern Comfort- LP- Stereo-Prestige PRST 7231 - RARE 1962 Stereo 1st press 33 1/3 RPM LP by Jazz tenor sax player and flutist Frank Wess. All-star band includes Oliver Nelson (tenor & arranger), Tommy Flanagan, George Duvivier, Osie Johnson & Ray Barretto. Tracks include "Blue Skies", "Gin's Beguine" & "Blues for Butterball." Glossy front cover slick is nice showing a little wear around the edges and a 2" seam split at bottom center. Back cover has a small yellow stain at top right and initials in pen at left. Disc (heavy vinyl with seldom seen black & silver Stereo Label with "Bergenfield N.J." denoting a 1st press) is clean & glossy showing no real scratches, but about 5 or 6 heavy spindle marks from careless handling. - Weston, Paul-Mood For 12: Hi-Fi From Hollywood- LP- mono-Columbia CL 693 - 1955 33 1/3 RPM LP release by pianist, composer, and bandleader, Paul Weston. LP at hand is probably Weston's jazziest outing, featuring a great lineup of players, including Ziggy Elman, George Van Eps, Barney Kessel, and Paul Smith. Tunes were all originally featured in various shows and movie soundtracks before becoming standards. Sound of LP (no strings on this one!) is mid-tempo and ballad Jazz with an after hours mood. Tracks include "I'm Comin' Virginia," " Skylark," and "Georgia on My Mind." Cover (note the great "cheesecake" photo!) is clean with minor wear-back cover has slight abrasions at top right where old stickers was removed. Disc (heavy vinyl-red label with black print-"6 eye" design) is clean, glossy, and Near Mint. Vinyl plays just a bit noisier than visuals would indicate, with light to moderate surface noise. - Whiteman, Paul/Paul Whiteman and his Concert Orchestra-George Gershwin Music- 78- mono-Decca Album 31 - Approx. 1945 78 RPM album release by Paul Whiteman. Set consists of 5 12" 78 discs, housed in heavy cloth-bound cardboard album, w/original 3 page booklet analyzing Whiteman's history, music of Gershwin, & performances. Whiteman, proclaimed "King of Jazz" in early 20th Century, led a great Big Band Jazz outfit, & was the first to perform the works of George Gershwin in public, beginning with the historic premier of "Rhapsody In Blue" in 1924. Pieces include "Rhapsody", "Second Rhapsody", "Cuban Overture, "An American In Paris". Pianists Roy Bargy and Rosa Linda are featured. Cover is in nice condition with one major exception-a 2 inch piece of the spine at top is missing. Front and back covers are clean. Discs are incredibly well-preserved, all grading Near Mint!! Rare 78 album, which we have never seen before.

These are all tried and true Broadway classics arranged and conducted by Sid Feller. Tracks include "Makin' Whoopee!", "Hello Dolly!", "I'll Only Miss Him When I Think of Him" & "I Had a Ball." The album is still factroy sealed in the original shrink (with "Capitol of the World" sticker on the front), but the shrink has pulled back slightly at the bottom right corner showing very slight wear to the exposed area. Mid to late 50's release, combines the contents of two rare Allegro 10" releases which list for $100 apiece in price guides. We believe the material is from sessions in 1945. Excellent stuff straddling the line between Swing and Bebop! Palmieri plays electric guitar reminiscent of Charlie Christian here. Featuring "How High the Moon", "Rose Room", "Flyin' Home" etc. Cover shows minor wear & slight fraying on spine, name in pen on reverse. Disc is clean with a few scuffs. - (EXC+/NM-) - $20- Order
